Actually, the screen voltage on those amps is not bad -- it's about half the plate voltage. So you might have around 700 volts on the plates, but only 350 volts on the screens.

Jim is correct about the screen Voltages, they run 1/2 of the plate voltage, which is in the 720V range.
I would probably go with the Svetlana EL-34's. I've used them with good results in the MM amps. I also put Sovtec 5881's in an HD-130 once at the customer's request. He supplied the tubes and told me that a tech. friend of his had suggested he try them. They worked great. I've replaced 7027's in Ampeg amps with the Sov. 5881 also. I would probably try the new Sov. 6L6WXT+ if I was going to go that route. They have better (higher) output in the hi-mids than the 5881. I have a solid state driver version of the HD130-410 amp. I was going to change it to the tube driver until I compared it to a tube driver amp. Mine sounded warmer; ie better bass response, and neither amp sounded very good in the MV distortion mode. Moral - Don't believe everything you read, trust your ears!. :-)
