Midification
I've been studying Mr. Smith's expired patent for control of vacuum tube preamps, and thinking (we know how dangerous that can be).

How much interest would there be in a kit that would triax-ify any amp (or effect(s))? Default configuration would control, say, 8 knobs and 4 SPDTs with some biggish number of presets available. It would probably mess with your amp's cosmetics some, but leave all its original knobs in their positions.

What would it be worth? Sales?

You might want to look at the effects switcher project at GEO for some techniques. The any-to-any effects switcher includes remote selection of operations and can set up independent combinations of amp functions. Using those techniques, you might not need midi, or you might be able to make a clean add-on to give remote control without major mods.

But can it turn knobs to go from a rich bassy jazz clean to SantanaAbraxas?

Check out Neil Young's rig,Tweed Deluxe With small motors to control the knobs ,preset to about three different settings. Ya know, hit a footswitch and the motors turn a preset amount;another switch ,another preset, etc.Jim

you just had to mention that *G*
one of the Waco idea's i've had,and blame this on a friend of mine cause he should it to me ;)
is take what you have listed above but do it with digitly controled steper motors, then what you do is rig up some voltage meters and current meters at key points and convert them to a digital signal. the reason for this is that this device my friend showed me (which call a basic stamp or basic stamp II) can take digital in and out and process them, you can program the chip to take the digital voltage reading comeing in and digitaly adjust the steper motors. so you can have either presets on board in eprom or you can connect the amp to computer via serial or ethernet. and program the amp by ether a basic program or Visual basic program (depends on the version of the basic stamps)

cool to have your amp on your network or at a gig and your sound guy could control your amp remotely.
the down side is if you at home your wife could turn your volume down remotely on les you password protect your amp.

ok back to reality. i spend way to much time in computers.
and honestly i haven't smoked anything

Thought about motors, but didn't want to deal with the servos or noises.

Oh for goodness' sake
Analog electronics is supposed to be fun. Let's not spoil it by adding MIDI ;)

No but seriously, it would be very handy to have presets on your amp, like on my old Rockman rack unit (could never afford a Triaxis)

It won't be easy though.
