Marshall JCM 2000

notubesonpcb	Marshall JCM 2000 I am interested in buying a DSL 50 or TSL 60 head do I need to buy spare PCB because of tubes fitted to PCB instead of on the chassis where they belong How much trouble can people who don't know how to build their own amps expect if we buy Marshall JCM 2000 amps with tube bases fitted to pcb? I don't like tubes on pcb

If you are careful when changing out tubes.......you should not have a problem. I would check out the amp carefully before I bought it.

Just a side note.......The Marshall 2000 DSL amps are the #1 amp I get calls on from people who are unhappy with the tone. People are under the impression that these amps offer the classic Marshall tone....they don't.
Anyone else have any info, mods or improvements for the poor 2000 series?

Listen to one carefully before you buy it.

Why not buy a JCM 800?

I have a buddy that bought the TSL 2000, Played it for 5 or so gigs and it when down on him. In the process of getting it fix the fuse holder cap was lost and the repair shop or Marshall themselv's don't know when they will be avalable for replacement. So in otherwords if he puts in a different fuss holder to usE the amp he will void the warrentee. That sucks. BE CAREFUL BUYING THIS ONE YOU MIGHT NOT GET TO PLAY ON IT MUCH!!!

plexilover	I'm sorry to hear that re TSL but not surprised I saw on the amp newsgroup someone said Marshall has a custom shop - all the boutique amp builders of the world. I don't know why Marshall has thrown away the chance to be a great amplifier company.

You know, I gotta agree with Benjamin; My 2nd guitar player picked up a brand new TSL60 about a year ago, and both he and I agreed that he shoulda bought a JCM800. I think it's a combination of the output transformers as well as so much less crap in the signal chain. I could mod my JCM800 sixty ways from Sunday and not throw in half the stuff in that 2000. Save yourself some $$$, and buy 2 or 3 JCM800's for the same money.

In Australia good JCM 800 models are hard to find when you hear of one its usually rough and badly overpriced since the 2000 series came out it seems the 800 prices have gone up.
JCM 2000 with tube bases on PCB boards is unsatisfactory as far as I am concerned.
The TSL 60 doesnt even have a box chassis just folded with everything on pcb.
We don't have much to choose from here except crap pcb Fender and crap pcb Marshall if you don't have the skills to build your own your stuffed.

Benjamin Fargen	Hang around here.......and you'll be building your own classic Marshall clone before you know it! Start with a Fender champ circuit, learn the ropes and then slowly work your way up to building the Marshall clone. Be mellow, ask smart questions and take lots of notes!:>) Benjamin.
