Check out these copper rivets for PCB's After reading the posts concerning using rivets for PCB's, I got curious and went to the hardware store this evening. I found some copper pop rivets made by Black and Decker, p C42, 25 rivets for around $2. They are 18" dia with a 18" grip range. I popped a few in 0.062" FR4 and 18" Bakelite, they seem to work great in either material and it is easy to get the nail out after installation. Plus, they are nonmagnetic so they are probably copper and not copper plated steel. Much easier to solder than steel. |

I have looked for these in the past and couldn't find them at Home Depot or Ace Hardware in my area. I have found that with Kester #44 solder that the steel rivets solder up just fine but had problems when I tried to use Radio Shack solder. So the secret seems to be in the rosin. Since then, I have tried some tin plated brass rivets from Mouser and quite frankly, they don't work any better than the Ace Hardware steel rivets. They are smaller in diameter with larger holes so I'll probably continue to use them, but steel rivets can definitely be used to make a nice amp. ..Joe L |

| Corwin | I've been using steel rivets with Radio Shack solder without any problems using either a 30W iron or a 25W woodburning pen. Solder flows fine. Corwin |
