Re: 6v6 question John, Would the use of a 5Y3 in a Deluxe reverb drop the B+? If it will how many volts? Also will it effect the tone and voltage sag of the amp? I am currently running a 5V4 in the rectifier of a 73 DR. The sound is cleaner than some of the other DR's I have heard. If I put a 5AR4 in there my voltage jumps to around 440v@25ma. I'd like to get the voltage down to around the 410 to 420 range @25ma. Is this possible? Will the 5Y3 hurt the amp at all? M/J |

| John Stokes | Yo MJ, Yes, yes and yes. It will drop the B+. If I'm not mistaken, this is what Mook has done in his RI DR. I think he gets 380 or so. Ask him. Yes it will effect tone and sag. it's soft, relatively speaking, so it will SAG. The lower voltage will give a ....."browner???" sound??? Try it and see what it does for you. Won't hurt anything. |
