Wish I knew! I've got a K100 with a dead pilot. I'll seee if the bulb is still there tonight. BTW anyone ever seen one of these Kustoms? It's a standard K100 plexi face (60's,) L to R Vol 1, Treb 1 (pull bright), Bass 1, Trem Rate, Trem Depth, Tremolo-Vibrato, Reverb, Bass 2, Treb. 2, Vol. 2. It's in the same size cab as the 4x10 model, but it has 1x15! From the factory! Has the oval ports in the back like the 4x10, also. Every 1x15 combo I've seen has been a bass amp! Re: Kustom K200B Actually, I got an email response that the bulb is a #1892. But in waiting... (impatience) I took the amp out of the case... just curious as to what was inside... I was thinking about using a bulb out of a fender to see if it would work, and I'm glad I didn't because it probably would have just popped. The pilot bulb circuit has at least a 5+watt resistor to ground, and the hot side connects to one of the power supply electrolytics, which is rated at 50 volts. I haven't measured anything yet... but something less than plus/minus 50 volt supply seems right for a 100 watt amp. Now that explains why I remember the pilot always seeming to flicker while they were being played!! Boy, these amps are built tough - and I was surprised to find it using only TWO electrolytics, both as primary supply filters. The remainder were either small ceramic discs, or "orange drops"!! Most TUBE AMPS use more electrolytics than this one. This is actually my first Kustom amp... but from what I remember, a lot of the old speaker cabinets used to use 15" speakers, even for guitar. A friend of mine that had one, oh, this is probably 1969 or so, had 3-15" speakers that was driven by a lead head. Ok, so does anyone know where I can find out additional information about these Kustoms, the history of the company... anything? The "new" company website (www.kustom.com) doesn't have anything useful, and I didn't pay that much attention to them in the "old days". Thanks! |

Right. I meant my amp was unusual in that it was a 1x15 COMBO. I've seen and played a 2x15 cab with a K200, like John Fogerty, and I've seen plenty of 3x15s. IMO the most unusual Kutom cab I ever saw was a folded horn 18, black tuck'n'roll. Man, that thing could kick an Acoustic 360's ASS. Oh, and how about the Kustom 8x12 cabs? I saw a Kasino version, but I'm sure Kustom made some with their name on 'em. WOW. Farrow http://surf.to/pharaohamps http://www.skybolt6.com |

:::Actually, I got an email response that the bulb is a #1892. And actually again, that is incorrect... in case anyone else cares... the actual bulb according to the schematic and parts list is a #1829... "slight" difference in voltage and amps. |
