Regarding Jack Darr's killer book: I think Randall put on his website the troubleshooting pages of this book.

Randall Aiken

That artical has been taken down to avoid copyright infringement. I contacted the original publisher, Howard W. Sams, who informed me they no longer own the copyright. They gave me the number of another publishing company who didn't know what I was talking about, so I let it go at that. Sorry!

I eventually plan to put up a similar article of my own in the introductory section of my website (if you can't copy 'em, outwrite 'em!).

BTW, I am finishing up a major technical article on phase shift oscillator design for tremolo circuits that will appear in the advanced section later this week, or on the weekend. It goes into excruciating detail on the math behind the phase shift oscillator (in a separate appendix, to keep the article readable without putting anyone to sleep!), with lots of pictures and circuit diagrams, and has a step-by-step process for designing both fixed and variable frequency phase shift oscillators, along with the pitfalls to avoid.

Carl B. On that Phase Shift Oscillator ...
Thanks for the great work on that Randall. I'll be sure to look over that, make sure my 12AT7 phase-shift stage should always oscillate. (It *seems* to want to stay oscillating, even down at 1 Hz ...)

Now, if I can just find triple-ganged two-meg reverse audio pots! (Or 10M linear 3 ganged pots, and do the anti-log thing with 'em to get roughly that same thing .)

Again, thanks. Now, how about that switching-scheme primer? (g)

... or an LED/LDR setup with three LDR's and then you can taper the control pot for the DC current through the LED...

I'll put in my two cents for Kevin Oconner's book The Ultimate tone. Plenty of examples, A great resource for guitar amp design and build.
