Speaker Replacement
I have heard so many ideas for a replacement speaker to put in a Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue, but I dont have the funds to try out different models. Does anyone know which one may be the best choice-Vintage 30, Greenback, Weber P12B,or any other, PLEASE HELP

What sound are you going for?

What's your other equipment - Strat? LP?

Mook's right; you really need to decide what type of sound you're looking for and consider what equipment you're using. Even then you're going to find a million different opinions on what the 'correct' speaker is.

With my DR, I used it with V30's and liked the sound though it's quite different than the traditional BF sound. I like the WeberVST C12Q for the BF-sound; many people also voice their approval over the C12Q. It's also not nearly expensive as an alnico.

An alnico speaker (like the P12B)is another option though that gives more of a tweed feel. You'll find mixed opinions on whether this works in a DR.

I am using a 57 reissue strat, and a fulltone 69 pedal

Bob,

In the case of the Weber P12Q, the Alnico version is only $10 more than the ceramic. With other Weber models, however, the alnico versions are significantly more expensive.
You really can't go wrong with the Webers - I personally think they annihilate Vintage 30's - the V30's are harsh, and have a weak bottom end ( just my opinion, no flames intended ).
I have a Weber P12Q, C12S, and also have a P12B on order. They greatly enhance any amp. Go to the WeberVST web site and read through the "user comments" section for more info - you will get a lot of the type of info you are looking for there.

Just curious,
Are Webers associated with Kendrick, as in Gerald Weber?
If so, do these speakers sound better than the black frame 10"ers? I've had the black frames in my Bassman for awhile, and I'm thinking they are the culprit for the harsness in my sound.

No, Weber VST isn't associated with Kendrick. Ted Weber is the guy at Weber VST. Haven't tried them yet, but have heard/read nothing but good things about their speakers. www.webervst.com
