Celestions
Since we're now talking about Celestions at length, does any body apart from me own a 2x12 containing G12L-35's?
To my ears, the cab sounds pretty warm and full when coupled to my JTM 45. I've opened the cab up and the speakers themselves look pretty cheap. One reason they may sound OK is that they are not vastly overrated for the output of the amp. Don't know if Celestion even make these anymore

I run a 2x12 cab with one G12L-35 and one 12" Fane.I run a 50W Laney AOR thru it and I'm happy with the sound. You're right, the Celestions do look cheap, small magnet, etc.

They shipped as standard equipment in some Crates so they must be cheap;-)

The Celestion G12L35 is still available from Musicorp which is a wholesale distributor for the music industry. The catalog lists the specifications as, sensitivity: 97db, magnet size 20 ounce, power 35 watts, tonal balance: bright with great midrange punch.

They list for $105.00 clams.

I'm not certain that a large magnet necessarily equates to large sound. I think these speakers can sound great in the right set up.

Just thought I'd share this information.

Interestingly enough Keith, my cab is an oldish Laney 2x12 (quite large, almost the same size as a 4x12). I've got access to a vintage Fane 12" from a PA cab. Might double that up with a Celestion.....

I've found that there are differences between the two speakers and, at least in a recording setting, miking one speaker or the other gives different characters to the sound. The differences are subtle, mostly in the bass response, according to my untrained ear.
