Dumble speaker choice? There has been much talk about Dumbles and Dumble clones. Just out of interest what speakers does Dumble put into his amps (ODS), what speaker configuation does he normally prefer (2x12")? Thanks Mark. |

Dumble usually used EV12Ls. Or, I'd bet the WeberVST California 12" would work great, too, seeing as it is "modeled" after the EV speakers. Mook |

Are the Californias really modelled after EV12L's? I'm not an expert, but the power rating alone seems to indicate quite a difference in manufacture. The EV is rated for 300w or so and the Weber is rated for 80w. The EV has got to be using a LOT more material too; it weighs in at a whopping 25lbs or so, while the CA is only 10lbs. MJ |

It's been stated pretty clearly at the WeberVST website BB's that the California Series speakers are modeled after vintage JBL's. Fred G. |

That's what I would have guessed; 80w sounds more like a JBL to me and I thought the California title was at least an indirect reference to the Fender surf sound (not that that's any indication of the speaker's tone though). An EV is a massive beast; I just read some little blurb about a 4x12 loaded with EV12L's. Talk about a backbreaker; the thing must way 150lbs or so... MJ |

I've heard different reports that the California sounds more like an EV than a JBL. Read Weber's "User Comment" page. Mook |
