Got one with my Dr. Z Carmen Ghia. I was swapping around tubes in the pre-amp to fine-tune the tone, and I must say that this tube is darn good. Wanted more drive from the whole amp, and thought this might be the culprit, but the amp just came with really clean power tubes. I put a pair of Sovtek power tubes in it, and the 12ax7LPS really made the sound a lot richer when I subbed it in for the wxt+ I had in there. Really nice woody clean tone, rich when overdriven, but this may just be the sound of the amp. Definitely noticed an improvement in tone when I put it in though. Nice top end, not harsh at all, just right. Not much of a gain difference as far as I can tell between the LPS and the wxt+ I had in there before. I don't know how much more they are, but definitely worth a listen if you can get your hands on some.

marrk	Chris, Thanks for the info. Your comments are right on with what I have heard from some other people. I have some on the way for use in a Mesa Studio preamp. I'll let you know how I make out with them. Mark

Nick Dolling	I've got 'em in my AB763 Deluxe knock off. I've actually got some MP3 sound clips on my website which were recorded on this amp, with those new 6V6EH's, and the 12AX7LPS's in the preamp, so you can hear what they sound like, or at least decide whether you think they suck or not. http://www.adelaide.net.au/~ndolling/deluxe.html Nick

A.S	The guy I buy my tubes from tested them really hard and said that they sound nice but they are too microphonic A.S

I bought a batch of 10 of them recently and noticed that they were all microphonic; some more than others. I thought the tone was very, very good, however. Maybe similar to a good NOS GE 7025. I think the quieter ones would be OK in the input gain stage position of a vintage type amp, but I don't know if any of them would work in a high-gain amplifier.

If Sovtek can do something about cleaning up the microphonics, we'll have a great currenet-production 12AX7 to work with!
