You know what I'd like to see from Clapton - a three or four man band. No backup singers, no keyboards, no old guy playing tambourine... Whenever you see Clapton nowadays it's like he brought a small town with him.

Did you catch the live show from the Fillmore on the "Cradle" tour that was broadcast over Westwood One? I wish I had my minidisk deck back then but I did make the audio cassettes of the show.

BTW his live records from the 70's and early 80's featured some great blues guitar (although not the Marshall JTM45 sounds on "Beano"). He wasn't that popular during that period but I thought he had really found his own comfortable niche for a bearded white Englishman playing the blues. "Double Trouble" (recorded in Japan) still sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it.

No. Shit. I did catch him on a TV show, but I didn't like it quite as well as the album, I forget why I thought that.

Mark Hammer Re: Bought a Champ! Questions...
Not sure if you can find them anymore, but I would highly recommend the JBL 2110 8" speaker as a replacement. I bought one in 1976 to stick in my tweed Princeton and it has served me faithfully ever since. VERY efficient, lotsa bottom, lotsa sparkle (60hz-10khz I think), and it sings nicely when the volume goes up. It was rated at 30 watts, which was more than enough to handle the Princeton (single 6v6, and sometimes a single 6L6) full tilt.

Thanks for the recommendation, Mark. MT
