1/2 open 1/2 closed 4X10 cabinet I have a 4x10 cabinet about the size of the speaker portion of Super Reverb as far as width and depth. The bottom half is closed. I posted on the Weber board about what speakers to mix with my Mojo MP10RHD's and which would sound better in the open and closed portion. One poster mentioned that if the enclosure was small it would probably stifle the speakers. Since I know nothing about this and had it custom made when I lived back in Cincinati and don't know how much the guy that built it knew about this sort of thing, what are some of your opinions on this. Should I modify the back to make both open? My original idea was to get some of the punch of a closed back with the sound of an openback mixed in. Thanks, Blues |

I've tried them in open and closed and they sound better to me with the cabinet partially open. I figure about 25% to 33% open... spaced in the center of the back panel. In other words two back panels with the space in the middle. I don't think a 4x10 cabinet the size of a Super Reverb is a small cabinet for 4 tens and it won't stifle the ten inch speakers. Is it at least 10" to 11" deep? Your top and bottom halves are not isolated by a center divider baffle are they? Bruce |

Bruce, There is a center baffle. The bottom half is completely enclosed. I don't have the cabinet here but the head I use with it is 9.5 inches deep so I'm pretty sure the cabinet is at least 10 inches. I have a tremolux cabinet and it is a little over 11 inches. I don't think my 4x10 is as deep as the tremolux. Thanks for your help, Blues |

I should also mention the cabinet is a little wider than a Super Reverb. Blues |

Bruce, I take it you are saying that the enclosed 10's should work alright in a cabinet that size. Thanks for the help. Now I just have to figure out which speakers to mix with my mp10rhd's and whether they go in the open or closed part. There is always something :0) Thanks Blues |

Laney has a cabinet just like that. 4x10 1/2 open 1/2 closed and they sound nice, tight yet spacious. A.S |

Yes, and that's the way a REAL VOX AC100 4x12 cabinet is made too. Bruce |
