| Josh | how much current for tweed deluxe? How much current will I need for a tweed deluxe-type amp? I'm thinking of using the Hammond 300-0-300 power transformer. |

Josh, You'll need around 80-100ma from the HT winding, about 2.5 to 3A from the 6.3v filament winding, and either a 2A or 3A 5v winding depending on what tube rectifier you use. I think all of the 300-0-300 Hammonds are up to the task. have fun... ... Whit |

That's what I used but if I did it again I'd use the 275-0-275. I have to use a 5Y3 to keep the B+ at a reasonable level and still had to up the cathode resistor to 330 ohms. With the lower voltage tranny you could play with other rectifiers (5V4 or 5AR4)to vary the voltage if you so desired. |

Yes, I think I agree with Lee this time. I am using a 280v@120ma PT in my Soulkicker (tweed Deluxe on steroids) with a 5AR4 or solid state plug for kick in the pants. I'm also using a 330ohm/100uF cathode RC combo. I have no trouble getting close to 18 dirty tweed watts output into a 7K OT. Bruce |

| Josh | Will going down to 275-0-275 have any noticeable effect on sound? will the "sag" characteristics remain? -thanks |

Josh, If Bruce says 280 (or 275) then my guess is the sound will be excellent... he's the man when it comes to operating points in these kinda amps... ... Whit |
