Pics of another first homebrew
Hi All,

One of the things which inspired me to build my first homebrew amp was the homebrew pics section of Ampage, so to give something back, here's a link to my web site with similar pics to what got me interested.

It's sort of a diary I've put together as I've been going, and it's still in progress, but the amp is now up and running, so there are some more or less finished pics. Hopefully there'll be some inside shots up there soon.

I don't know what it sounds like, but if it sounds as good as it looks, man!

What a beautiful amp!

Nick,

Great to see a fellow Australian building good quality homebrews ! I've been through many of the same steps. Isn't it a pain waiting for everything to come from the U.S ?? How many of the postal items did you get through Customs without copping duty ?? I'm currently covering my Tweed Deluxe type cabinet in twill material - hardest bit so far. I'll use your chroming price as a guide for my chassis.

Nice pics.

Hi Tubegirl,

I never realised you were a fellow 'stralyn. Where are you from?

I was actually pretty lucky with customs, although with the P12Q I had to wait until the sales tax rate was dropped to 22% to avoid the tax (which, conveniently enough, happened about a week after I was ready to order it). Everything else was inspected by customs and they obviously decided it didn't need to be taxed. Most of the stuff I got sent airmail, and it only took about 10 days per package. I've got tolex and grille cloth on the way now, surface mail, so that IS going to be frustrating. As far as the chroming goes, I polished the brass myself which probably saved a little bit on labour, but Andrew McWhirter actually had his DR chassis re-chromed about the same time, and he got his done for $15! - I thought I got a good deal until he told me this :)

Beautiful workmanship! All I can do is grovel and say

I'm not worthy.

What are your plans re: marking the control panel? I sure

like that chrome - do you plan to screen print on that or just leave it as-is? I guess with your CNC you could engrave a nice panel, but it would be a shame to cover that bright chrome. But, either way, it's the nuts.
