My Bassman LIVES! OK, I replaced the Power Supply caps, replaced the bias capacitor, cut the possibly leaky cap from the ground switch. I used the light bulb method R.G. recommended and turned it on. To make a long story short, it works! The 64 bassman albeit scratchy pots does work and make sound. HOWEVER, The output tube closest to the power supply transformer (leftmost from back) is glowing bright orange - too bright! The other one is relatively cool when compared.... When swapped socket-wise, the one tube that glowed bright still glows very bright orange. I guess it's mismatched??? Help. Aron |

Re: My Bassman LIVES!/Glowing tube I noticed that it takes a minute or so for the tube to start glowing bright orange. It also has a little blue in there as well... Why would only one tube out of 2 glow so bright? Thanks, Aron |

Hi, Aron. I would guess that the glowing tube is bad. If you had a screen resistor out, any tube plugged into the wrong socket would go orange. Probably the same if the bias wasn't getting to one socket. If the glow stays with a particular tube, safe bet that it is bad. Maybe try another one in its place? All this assumes the bad tube is a power tube. |

Re: My Bassman LIVES!/bad ?Glowing tube Thank you! I guess the tube is bad. It's the original 5881 tube. Yes it is the power tube. Moving it to the other socket doesn't change a thing - no matter where it is, it glows too bright. Aron |

Re: My Bassman LIVES! Yes it was the tube. My friend sent me some GE and Sylvania tubes and I ended up using the Sylvania tubes. They work fine. |

| Gus | Leaky coupling cap change both to the output tubes better tube can take it but you should still change both. |

Which caps are you talking about Gus? I'm not sure... http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Nova/4551/schems/bassman_6g6-b_schem.gif Can you point them out to me on the schematic? Thanks, Aron |
