I have owned "new and old model" Trainwrecks. They all have the signature Trainwreck sound and performance . The older style transformers had a warmer overall quality and newer style transformers are tighter on the bottom and have a more upper mid focus. The older style tranformers were not Fender pulls.

wreckboy,
Thanks for the info. It's hard to determine sometimes what's fact and what's fiction in this buisiness. I'll take the word from someone who has actually owned a few of these amps anytime. You wouldn't happen to know what the impedance ratios of these trannies were....would ya?

Peter,
Sorry, unfortunately I only play my Trainwrecks:-) and don't know anything about the inner workings of an amplifier:-( I'm pretty limited, biasing (Express) and trying different tubes. The "Prototype" 15 watt Liverpool has an off the shelf transformer. This amp is a killer made from spare parts Ken had at his shop....Ken really knows how to put together an amplifier....the "Touch" and the "Ear":-)
