I've never heard them called that, but it has to be the two-headed nails we referred to as "forming" nails, from their use in concrete forms. They have two heads, one spaced a bit towards the point from the topmost head. This lower head forms a stop that prevents the nail from being driven so far in that the top head can't be used easily to pull the nail. They're intended for easy pulling in temporary carpentry. |
