Big Muff Pi Hey guys... I just finished breadboarding up the BMP tried it out, and what do you know, it worked!! And it's damn loud too...I'm afraid my crappy little amp can't handle it when the gain is on full...I used most of the recommended parts...I haven't changed the caps to the ones that the schematic says sound better...what is the difference in sound with the other caps? Thanks for all your help and input, I'm sure I'll need to debug it once it doesn't work after I solder it to Perf Board...then you guys can really help... Tell me if ya wanna know more about the parts i used...gotta go... Krusty |

Any mods for the BMP? Sorry to reply to my own message but... Are there any good mods i should try before I put the BMP into a box? Like the coupling caps that are suggested changing? Or other RC filter voicings? What will happen if I use pots that are 300k instead of 100k? Thanks I'm gonna go try all my pedals together now... |

The coupling caps and tone control will probably make the most different. Try doubling the cap values - alternately try dividing them by 2. Also on the tone control, try making the smaller cap smaller and the larger cap larger for more of a mid dip. Also try the other way - make the smaller cap larger etc.... In other words, fool with the caps! |

hehe, okay Aron...thanks for the tips...what do the coupling caps change? I know how the RC filters work, but don't know exactly (or at all) what the coupling caps do nor how they work...i guess it's time to do some more reading...any pointers before begin? Thanks again... |

Also making the pot smaller; 22K or so will make a mid dip! Tone control on Sonic Distortion does that. Also interesting is EH Deluxe Octave Multiplexer tone control, haven´t tried..(What does that pedal do anyway?). And Aron, I just had fun w/breadboard and came up with what I now call ´Big Fuzz´, BMP-style 3-stage thang.. Sounds lot brighter, very mid-rangy! Yeah, yeah Hemmo P.

Cool! I keep forgetting to download that tone control calculator again. Your Big Fuzz sounds cool! |

I´m oughta build a proto tonight, if it works as intented I´ll send you a schem(what was your e-mail again?) P.S.I didn´t need the tone stack calculator for that, just my own experience. I have that and I tried one control that I used on my ´something blue´, and the calculator showed HUGE mid dip that just went over the audio range as you turned the pot..blahblah, I´ll go away..
