Has anyone tried building the dod or mxr phaser? Now that I know the green ringer perfectly emulates a busted amp, I'm going to try something else. I'm thinking the mxr/dod phaser because I need one for my Wurlitzer. Anyone have any advice before I try? |

I have an original DOD 201. It is a very subtle phase sound. Think Gilmour's "have a cigar" tone. At high speed it sounds a bit like a leslie/tremelo. I got the idea of putting it in a dead crybaby case to control the rate on the fly. I might try it some day. They did reissue this. You might find one fairly cheap and save yourself the hasssle of building. mp |

Yeah, I have a dod stereo phaser which is pretty strong. I'm looking for something rather subtle. The whole reason I'm trying to build pedals is because I'm trying to construct a series of effects on a board where the knobs will be. Then have the switches on a board in front of me. I also want to wire it so I can use a switcher to select which pedal will be controlled by an expression pedal. This seems like it will be more convenient. I'm not necessarily looking for a cheaper method. I figure I could cut corners on packaging. |

Sounds cool. Good luck with it. |

| cw | I built one a few months ago. It was a major hassle, but it came out very well in the end. The phase is nice and subtle, which it seems is what you're looking for. To get the tone that i wanted, instead of using a trimmer, i used a 50k pot with a 60k res. on one side and a 220k res on the other. The resistors narrowed the tonal range of the phaser and the mounted pot allows me to control it nicely. Good luck! cw |
