J202 fets ?
Hi all,
I just bought a bleusbreakerII, and I love it...really nice pedal, especially in boost mode.

The second thing I did was open it up to see what's inside and I noticed two J202 transistors..or fets..or whatever they may be.
Does this thing belong in the same family as the fets used in the miniboosters and sweet things ?

After trying a while to build a clean boost effect (I guess the mpf102 just isn't the right part to use) I gave up and bought the BBII...and I'm glad I did.

I think modding my Electar10 will be the next project I'll try...reading Doug's posts I can't resist :-)

Peter.

VERY interesting, Peter, I took a look at my Interfet data-sheet for the J201, and specs for the J202 are in there also --your suspician was correct:

These have a higher idss, and higher transconductance. Considering that the original Bluesbreaker was opamp-based, I wonder where they got the idea for those? I wonder if they're just part of the switching-circuit --did you see any opamps in there (black rectangle about 3/8" by 3/4")?

Yes, there is an opamp in there, it's marked BAA4558.

But couldn't it be possible that this opamp is used in overdrive mode and the J202's in boost mode.
The overdrive mode is ok sounding, but the boost mode sounds incredible.
I don't think they are part of the switching, since the switch uses a different smaller PCB...

Peter.
