Zap I built the Electra Distortion and.....
I finished up building the electra distortion tonite. I soldered my last connection, plugged in, took a deep breath, and to my suprise, it worked! It sounded great too, I was suprised that something that simple would sound good. Now, here's the problem, I installed the board , jacks and switch into the box, then plugged in again and....it was gone.... didn't work any more...and I can't figure out where the problem is. Maybe I broke something loose in the process of installing it into the box..?? I don't even know how to test the circuit yet.. Well, I guess I'm gonna learn. I'm taking a break from it now, so I don't get too frustrated. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Check out your grounds. One problem I had was also when I stuffed everything out, one of the pots pressed against the jack, grounding the tip against the barrel. At least you got it working first time. I can't tell you all I went through with my first pedal.

Zap Re: I built the Electra Distortion and.....It works now!
I almost had the same problem with the jack touching the dpdt switch. I had the hole drilled and the discovered that the switch was in the way, so I had to drill another hole. I used a housing from a center airbag sensor/computer from a 1995 Corolla for a box. Anyways, the problem I was having with the unit was that it would work in the on position, but not when I switched to bypass. I reversed two wires on the DPDT, and I was in business. This was my first pedal, and I had alot of fun making it.

I'd be very interested in checking out your "goodies". I tried but couldn't get to your site... I'll try again soon. I am interested in making a fuzz face clone, and can't wait to get started.
