Don't push it folks....
As an avid fan of AMZ and Jack's projects, even as far back as when it used to be DMZ Schematics, his site has utilized the accessibility of the internet to provide valuable information for the beginner and seasoned musical electrician.
I'm sure many people have cut their teeth building the Electra Distortion or some variation of a Fuzz Face. Hordes of blues players want their TS-9 modded to the mythical TS-808 specs. Germanium transistors and diodes are the 'only way to go.' And everybody wants a true bypass.
I think that I speak for a lot of people when I say that Jack's page is one of the best sources of original effects and useful projects on the web. Not to go on too much of a rant here, but don't push him into shutting down his page for good. He's already warned us that he would without batting an eye. I'm one of the ones that thinks a CD is a great idea. If Jack want's to put out an 'AMZ's Greatest Hits' or 'AMZ:The Singles' with a bunch of new tracks added, I'll take one. He's been doing this YEARS without asking anything from anyone. As far as Jack going commercial, yeah, he could do it, make some money and a (bigger) name for himself. That would be a full-time investment that maybe he doesn't want. But think about this: how many commercial effects companies will answer your e-mails and help you build their own product? 0.
Remember the old saying about 'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.'
Jack is teaching us to fish....

No argument here. Jack's site is the best for original work and has the finest distortion designs anywhere!

I didn't see anything on here that would would/should make him mad. In fact, every one of us wants to help him. We are BIG FANs of Jack!

No argument here. HOWEVER, all I am saying is that I don't like the idea of the CD as a substitute for the online page. His site is killer right now. I think a CD is slow and painful to update.

Would you rather go back to snail mail for correspondence or email?

However, if this is what Jack wants, then line me up as one of the first!

I don't undestand what this means in this context. Sorry..

I don't know if you have read all the threads but the issue is not money. Most of us would be glad to give Jack money for his efforts. It's just the medium of delivery.

You are probably right though, we really have no say on this.

I'm just bummed cause things have to change that's all. Well, this is my last post on this subject.

Thanks for warning us. I wouldn't want anything to go away for good.

Uh. Now I think I see why you posted that.

Interesting (and inspirational) book list, but 3 of the best aren't there:
The Art of Electronics (Horowitz & Hill) best for diy electroinc engineering
The Stompbox Cookbook (Boscorelli) single best on theory and practice of stompbox design & construction
Troubleshooting Analog Circuits (R.A.Pease) the real nitty gritty on why everything fucks up.
These are the 3 I'd grab first in a fire (after my Tektronix scope)

Sorry. Actually, I didn't see that until after. Truly, I didn't mean to rant. I'm just a little frustrated/disappointed that so many people (not EVERYONE mind you) are getting so worked up over Jack putting out a CD. ("Why won't he keep everything on the web? Why would he want to go to the slowest means of distribution?", yada yada yada)I agree wholeheartedly that a CD won't substitute for a website. But I remember when Jack first started putting up samples of the FET Muff two years ago and he was pushed for space even back then.
BTW, I have quite a few of Jack's schematics on file that I will gladly e-mail to some folks who haven't had the pleasure. Even some PCB layouts. For free, no less.
Hmmmm.....something must be brewing in the AMZ Laboratory....IGOR! THROW THE SWITCH!!!
