DPDT _and_ LED Am I the only one that can't get either Jacks Triple Bypass or R.G.'s Mill. Bypass to work? I made them both and got no light at all. The Triple I made with 3x2N3904's and The Mill. with a 2N5457 FET. I would very much like a status light in my boxes. I think they are really needed if I want to use those them live. |

I have used the Millenium bypass many times. I switch between J201 and MPF102 depending on the LED it seems. |

I always use Motorola 2N5484s for the Millleniu Bypass, and it always works like a charm. Other brands of 2N5484s don't work as well though, you have to select for them. Same goes for other FET types. The Millenium 2 Bypass has worked with every BS170 I've tried, from Zetex e-line package to a no-name brand I picked up surplus. |

| AMZ | Jim, what effect are you using them on? All types of this bypass circuit require some resistance to ground on the output of the fx to make the switching operate. You can test you bypass circuit without wiring it in by applying power to V+ and ground of the bypass circuit then touch a 100k resistor to the switch connection and ground. When the resistor is in place, the LED should go off. when you remove the resistor, the LED will light up. -Jack |

I am using it on the Shaka Brada 3. Thanks for the advice, I was looking for a way to test it seperately from the pedal. I will try this. |

To test a Millenium Bypass or any simlar, just connect the control line to ground with a 1M resistor. Resistor to ground, LED lights. Resistor open, LED off. |

Re: got it, thanks I can't believe I had to make FOUR of these circuits before I got it to work! I ended up with a Millenium bypass with a J201 FET and a 1N4148 diode, a 1K resistor and the LED. This works fine with my Shaka Brada 3. I am really looking forward to try it tonight in the band. NO pedal is tested unless you play live in a band... |
