| Gord | SB3 tone control Hello. I meant this question for Aron, but anyone's help would be very much appreciated. I asked a while ago about how to transplant a TS9 tone control into the Shaka Braddah 3. This is basically what I did: -pin 1 of op-amp -> 1K res. -> diodes to ground, 1M res. to ground -> minibooster. At the output of the minibooster, I inserted the TS9 tone circuit, .22uf cap to ground, op-amp and all. I wired it all up and it worked and sounded fine, but it was REALLY low in volume. I mean, about one-tenth of what it should be. After debugging, I couldn't find what I did wrong, so I went ahead and wired up another one from scratch, and guess what? Same problem. I don't understand what I did wrong in the design of this thing, but any explanation of this mystery would definitely be a great help. I can say that the sound coming out of this thing was pretty amazing! BTW Aron, great Supa Fuzz sound clip! That (IMO) is a legendary sound! Have you tried it live? |

| Gord | How about the 1K feedback resistor in the tone circuit? Would increasing the value of it make this pedal any louder? |

I don't know why it would be low in volume... >BTW Aron, great Supa Fuzz sound clip! That (IMO) is a legendary sound! Have you tried it live? That IS a legendary sound? Really? Wow.... I'm serious. I didn't know.... No, I haven't tried it live... |

Legendary Sound I agree, Aron, I think it is a good sounding clip, obviously not what YOU are looking for JD |

Hah! One of the best explanations of legendary sound! A funny sound is Tommy Tedesco playing the melody to Green Acres through his Maestro Fuzz Tone! Brings back memories! |

| Adrian | You guys sure are right but it makes me think about why sometimes those oddball fuzz tones can be so memorable. Perhaps the limited nature or one dimensionality is a positive when coupled with a great hook. As a recording and gigging bass player of 15 years i have really come to enjoy certain recorded sounds that would be lousy live and no fun to even practice solo with but WORK for some damn reason on a recording. I mean dry ratty direct sounds, tinny ss sounds, overdone compression etc... I think this concept can apply to guitar as well - sometimes the bad sounds can fill a role that a great sound won't....plus this allows a rationale in which one can build all the effects, not just the "good" ones! If i didn't have access to great sounding amps i might not feel this way tho'.... ;^) - A |

I was playing the pedal last night and actually got a half-decent sound out of it. I was trying to play some hendrix-type licks and it actually didn't sound half-bad. I guess it gives you a certain vibe that the other pedals can't. I want to crank it up and see how it sounds. |
