Re: 2 Knob Bender Aron and everyone, Hey thanks for all the info! Yes, it does have a constricted kind of sound, but that's what I'm looking for - that Zeppelin 1 sound. I have others I use most frequently but would like to have that fat strangled fuzz when necessary. Getting ready to build about a half-dozen different boxes in a row shortly (hopefully no glitches) and am selecting some choice designs. Once again - Thanks much! Regards, Synthbum |

>Yes, it does have a constricted kind of sound, but that's what I'm looking for - that Zeppelin 1 sound. OK! NOW I understand. Yep, it nails that sound. Yeah, Fat strangled fuzz describes it! I put trimmers for some of the bias resistors and you can get all sorts of strangled sounds! |

| Gord | Hello! "That germanium sound" This is my theory: There are pedals for bedrooms and there are pedals for concert halls. Bedroom pedals, such as the RAT (IMHO) have to really 'sing' well in order to have a good feel. A concert hall pedal has to sound good, but the feel part of it becomes less inportant. Why? Through a vintage style tube amp, when it is turned up, the amp will give you the singing qualities that the pedals might lack. That is why in a guitar store, a Fuzz Face or a TS9 might sound wimpy, but on stage, they kick butt. FOr live use, I think that the EQing of a pedal becomes more important? What do you guys think? |

Good theory and yes, to some extent very true. However, I have used several pedals with good feel (Shaka 3, FET Drive etc...) that sound good in my living room and also kick butt live. Why not have it all? But yeah, I have to admit the germanium sound is unique. I guess I'm wondering how many of them I need. I keep on building them over and over and they sound similar. |

2 Knob Bender Schematic drawn and up Hi I got bored and tired of looking at that hand drawn schematic!! So I've drawn up a clean version which is readable. http://www.mondocatto.com/tonebendermkii.gif http://www.mondocatto.com/tonebendermkii.eps (Illustrator eps format for the postscript users out there) John |
