Re: Rangemaster
Now why didn't I think of turning that huge color display on its side.

Yeah, I have a really old version of Acrobat. OK, I will check out the latest version.

Thanks!

The problem I am having now...(I found a way to convert pdf to text only...no drawings...just text) is that a T.V's resolution isn't good enough to read the values on the schematics...even with the sharp setting all the way up etc.I wish I could hook up my dinosaur 386 computer's VGA monitor to the webtv...but I don't think I canthanks

Capture the page in acrobat with paint shop pro, then rotate it 90 degrees.. that's painful but it works :)

Reversing the battery and caps isn't a good idea. Try a different transistor. Even a Si PnP. It is a simple circuit. I have got it to work with NTE 158.

You're right, that's the problem right there, the reversed battery & caps. With the NTE158s being PNP, the positive side from the battery should be grounded, and the positive ends of the caps should go to ground as well (just like in the schematic.) If you're building with an NPN transistor, THEN reverse the polarity of the battery & polar caps.

O.K....now I am confused...what I meant was...being a PNP NTE 158, I have the + end of the caps to ground and the + end of the battery to ground (like the schematic says)...I didn't wire it for NPN...My collector voltage is like 7.6...I think I will increase the 67K to get it lowerThanks for the feedback!

Does "nothing" mean no output signal at all?
I was just wondering if your transistor was alive and well.
I did kill one Ge transistor while adjusting the 68K (100K pot) and 3.9K (10K) pot. I have no idea how I managed it. I have a couple of NTE158's which are complete duds.

I can email you the GEO pdf file if you can't download it. Increasing the 68k to get the collector voltage to -7V is correct, according to RG's document.
