Hendrix and Big Muff?

| Mike | Hendrix and Big Muff? Did Jimi Hendrix ever really use an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff? If not how can Electro-Harmonix get away with advertising that he did? The only pedals I've read that Hendrix used were a Fuzzface, Vox crybaby, Octavia, Uni-vibe and an Echoplex. I don't think he used a Big Muff, if he did no one has ever written anything about it, and none of his recordings sound anything like the sound of a Big Muff. I had never even seen a Big Muff in any music store until the early 70's, years after Jimi was gone. I just wondered if anyone knows anything about the Hendrix/Big Muff connection, or is it just an advertising scam? |

According to Mike Matthews, he did use a Big Muff in the studio on a couple of occasions. Mike says he saw him using it. |

I sincerely doubt it don't you? The old Electroharmonix was always 100% truthfull about everything wasn't it - wasn't it!!!!! |

I think he might have used a Foxey Lady Fuzztone which was a pedal made for Guild by Mike Matthews. This pedal is similar to the Big Muff except with no tone knob. Just a guess because this pedal came out around 1968. According to the book "Stompbox", Jimi wanted Mike Matthews to form a band with him. Don't know if you would believe that! |

I have a Foxey lady with tone control Mine has 'EH' monogrammed on the cct board. Like a klutz, I didn't know what I had and cut a hole in the side for a battery holder. |

The Foxey Lady with a Tone control is just a Big Muff. I've also seen early Big Muffs that had a Fuzz control instead of Sustain. Again, same as other Big Muffs. The 2 knob Foxey Lady is a whole different beast. |
