DPDT switch pop I installed a Carling DPDT switch in one of my effects. It works great, except that everytime i push in and out, it has a great big pop. I was told that someone on this site would probably know how to fix it, something about a pulldown resistor. Any help that any of you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

| JOHN | Try a 1meg resistor to ground on the input and/or a 1meg resistor on the output to ground. |

Also have a look at the Millenium Bypass at http://www.geofex.com |

I'm sorry, but i don't completely understand you. I should place a 1meg resistor from the in/output jack to ground? |

Yep. |

NOPE!! From the input of the *effect* to ground. I had understood that the 1meg resistor was to allow any capacitors with one end open, at either the input or output of the effect to bleed off any charge through the resistor. THAT accumulated charge is where the popping comes from. If the effect ends in something like a 10uf cap and 10k resistor to ground, then you don't need the 1meg add-on at the output. BUT, if it starts with a .1uf-.22uf cap tied directly to the lead from the stompswitch, then the cap can't bleed off and needs a resistor. If you have ANY doubts about my recommendation, just stick a 2.2M resistor on the jack and on the effect. When you hit the stompswitch, their paralleled value will be just over 1meg, so you'll be in the clear. |

One can always count on the Hammer. |
