Sub for 2N4303 FET?
Many thanks to Aron for posting the Maestro Universal Synthesizer on his site, and to the donor of the schematic.

The USS and the Electro Harmonix Bad Stone both use a 2N4303 FET. I think I may have seen some other effects recently that also used it.

What would be an acceptable substitute for this component, or is it more widely available than I realize?

Excellent! Thanks. My cross-reference books are about 20 years old. Useful for looking up old stuff, sometimes, but utterly useless other times.

NTE 133 appears to be a more suitable replacement.
Take care, Jered

Well now - the FET used by Electroharmonix was a 2N 4302. These cost £2 in the UK - that's US$3.20!!!!!. I was given 2N 4303 as an exact replacement - so where does that get us? Something about low pinch voltages...........I don't really know the jargon.

David DiFrancesco recommended the J113 as a FET with a "low pinch-off voltage" for switching. (DOD used them extensively, and David used to work for DOD). Does this show up in anyone's cross-reference tables?

I gather the relationship between 4302 and 4303 is like that between 5457 and 5458?
