Re: Dano mini pedals
Whoops! No problem, it was *I* who should have read your post more thoroughly. Agreed on the Daddy-O being a good pedal, though - there are more sounds in it than three of the new Dano fuzz boxes put together.

I've tried them out, and most of them didn't sound too bad, considering. They are kinda funky...I like that. Definitely priced as an "impulse" or "gift from the kids" buy. At that price it's almost nothing to buy one....they can be useful for SOMEthing. Or as the late, great John Belushi once said..."Whaddya want for nothing....."

BTW....new GP has review on all the new little Dano pedals, and they are pretty close to being on the money in their observations. (Check out the "Boutique Amp" story too. Look at the configuration of the Dragster...pretty unusual).

Mods ahoy
Finally got hold of the review, and had a close-up look at the controls on these little babies.

Seems to me there is a lot of potential for adding controls. Many of these units seem to have omitted a number of controls that would normally be on the $79 version of such a pedal. F'rinstance, there is no apparent way to change the actual delay time on the BLT or Corned Beef, no control beyond the P90-style speed control on the Pepperoni, and no distortion control on the Grilled Cheese.

Do these puppies beg for mods or what? Unless Dano has opted for epoxy "cloaking", or is using proprietary chips, these effects are so bloody basic in nature and configuration that the lot of us should be able to figure out how to turn a $19.95 fuzzbox and $29.95 flanger into something a little more flexible and useful.

If you own one or more of this series, and are in a position to describe the guts without voiding your warranty (which I assume all such units have at the moment, given their newness), perhaps this army of corrupt youth and dementing adults can provide you proud owners with a few summer projects.

Does your BLT contain an MN3307 or MN3207? Is there a pair of back-to-back diodes *anywhere* in your Grilled Cheese, Pastrami, or T-bone? Is there a small (about 100-500pf) value cap somewhere real close to a mystery chip in your Hash Browns? Just guessing. Is there *any* room to work in there? Operators are standing by right now for your call.

You know, I didn't even think about it like that, but those little pedals may indeed have those Panasonic BBD chips in them. If you can get a 1024-stage BBD with the controller chip for $30, that's really not that bad of a deal.

We need reports from the field about what parts are in these things!

I already reported on these on Aron's forum. Essentially, on the echo/reverb, give up. NO HOPE for mods. Also, they were made to go together, not come apart.

Thanks....I think. I'll look there and come to grips with it.
