fulltone fulldrive II is a nice pedal. Sounds good, solid/quality build, it's true bypass, has compressed and uncompressed modes, and has a second boost mode that can give you Boogie type gain. Expensive, too ($180? new).

Visual sound J & H. Great sounds - Tubescreamer-like on one side, High-gain on the other. Loads of options, loads of flexibility. Inexpensive.

Dave,

Let me start by saying, I am not a great guitar player. I don't have the world's best amps - although I have played through a bunch of them.

I do not proclaim myself to have "golden ears" and I cannot hear the difference between my preamp tube shield being on or off OR hear the difference when using screws or rubber bands.

BUT....

I believe that my site has some of the best sounding overdrive/distortion pedals anywhere. I really believe it.... and my site helps you to make your own pedals or modify your existing ones so that they suit YOU.

Good luck in the quest....

Hi

I don't really use overdrives much, as the TS-type always seem to have this harsh, metallic upper-midrange thing going on. OTOH, I have to admit I listened to some stuff the other night I had recorded some time ago, and really had a nice sound. I looked through my little black book of what I play where with what, and I was using a Way Huge Green Rhino II. As ODs go, it sounded great.

I like dirt pedals that dont take away the amps personality.
I dig the Hotcake, Stamps OD and the old Maxon 808 which is reissued by the way.
Everybodys ears are different look for the tone that suits you.
