Hello, i'd use high voltage foil capacitors for the pF and nF range. They have to be high voltage to have the right (=small) capacity. But they are very expensive here. So i rather use ceramics for the prototypes, and later the foil ones. K. |

what brand foil caps? ive tried the jensen/audio note super expensive copper foil caps in low power circuts and they seem to not be able to do what they can do in high voltage amplifers, sometimes they even sound worse then cheap caps. maybe there overpowered or something, sometimes they were 640v caps i had lying around. do you have any brands youve found that work well for this application and sources to get them? thanks again! chuck |

In my Tube Screamer mods,I've been using Mouser's Xicon Sub Mini Poly Films(The green ones)....This is what I've seen in the TS9's and the 808's,though the originals aren't Mouser caps, but I'm close enough....John |

Mouser also has some great polyester film caps in the 1uf values that are very small and work great for replacing the 1uf electros used in screamers/rats etc. pt# 581-1000nk63. Very small little yellow boxes - I dig 'em. Only problem is in small numbers they're a buck and change... |
