ive got one and dig it. i use it mostly as a compressor and the fattness is just an added bonus. you can set it not to compress is you want. bryen |

| rich | ive got one and like it alot. i use it w/ my strats and hollowbodies and it really smooths out the sound alot. To my ear, it can do compression if you turn the drive up alot on it. i don't like compression that much so i set it differently and it retains all the dynamics only the sound is fatter warmer and just better. It is cool to have in case an amp goes or something, cause you can just go straight to the board. its also really cool for direct recording. it sounds fabulous in front of the amp simulators on my VS880, and really brings the patchs alive. id reccomend it to anyone who wants a warmer fatter sound. good luck finding one, ive heard rumors they are going out of business, dont know if thats true though. rich |

The only compressor I use is an MXR Dynacomp which is used on just about every song my band does live for leads and switching into the chorus of a song to add a bit more dirt and some compression. Does the Fatdrive do a similar thing only much more upmarket with the ability to EQ the compressed sound? - sounds a good feature as I often want to re-EQ when switching in the dynacomp. Cheers... hey ian. id say its great for that. its pretty versatile, but you can use it as a great clean boost for leads and have the eq set flat, or different. it'll compress more or less depending on how you set the gain. so you'd have it totally off and transparent normally, then hit the footswitch for leads that are fatter and thicker. it can be set for any amount of boost or eq options. thats one way to use it at least. its great for thin sounding strats too. best, chuck |
