JRC i4580 vs. 4558 - Is it all B.S.?
I'm new at this topic so please forgive my ignorance. What is the difference between these two chips? Which one is better/more desireable? Which one came in the original TS-808? I've been reading about the Maxon 808 reissue and they tout that their pedals are built to the exact specs as the original 808's? Any truth to this? All info is always appreciated. Thanks.

Scott...The so called "Voodoo" chip is the JRC 4558 D,and Mouser sells these for 22 cents each. They are the NJM 4558 D.These sound just like the originals,as I have tryed them....Other chips like the RC 4558 P TI and the Japanese version of this RC 4558 P chip sound good also....Put an 8 pin IC holder in your pedal and experiment...John S
