Heil Talk Box I'm sure this has been done before, but I heard a guy using a Heil talk box last night, and I think I need one. It sounded awesome. Any ideas if there's a schematic and a few building instructions available somewhere. They seem to be quite hard to get hold of. Any info very gratefully received. Liam |

well, schematic... The whole thing is a box with a midrange horn driver (without the horn) screaming into a plastic tube, that you stick into your mouth. All you need to do (...well, all...)is build the "speaker enclosure" and a nice tube connection, and feed it with an amp, any amp. You can build it into the box, or use a guitar amp, whatever. Just roll off the lows if you want to keep your own teeth. I think Aron has a couple of links on the schematic page tpo talkbox faq's and such. http://surf.to/stompbox Good luck |

Re: Heil Talk Box....JD is the Talk Box Guru! JD was very instrumental in helping me build my own talk box,and helped me pick out a driver...I bought an inexpensive driver from MCM electronics,then I literally copied the inside of my buddy's Heil Box.....His(and mine) also has a "frequency"cap in series with the positive lead to the driver from the switch....Seems this cap controls what frequencies the driver operates in,and keeps the driver from dieing on us quickly!I got ahold of Dunlop and ordered the correct tube and the little metal threaded peice that the tube goes into.Really the only actual difference between my talk box and the Heil,is the different driver.I A'B'd my home made box to my friend's with a Beta 57A mic and they both sounded almost tonaly identical,but I had alot less money into mine,and it was fun to build....I purchased a box from Radio Shack from what I remember?
