Mesa Boogie V-Twin?
Iīm looking for distortion pedal with double function. Mesa Boogie V-Twin seems to be ideal, but donīt the tubes (it has 2x12AX7īs in it) break easily in a stomp box? Has anybody experiences in gigging with V-Twin? How long do the tubes last? Has anybody experiences with double function distortion stomp boxes?

Boogie also puts the V-Twin in a 1-space rack chassis. Would that work for you?

Iīm afraid I like stomping more than racking! Iīve got a Vox AC-30 and you canīt pile almost anything on it because of the ventilation holes. And man, it gets hot!
And using separate racks is waste of time for my contemporary opinion!
And professional racks get quite easily quite heavy. My pedal board goes to one old suitcase and thatīs it!

Hi

For your information,Boogie is about to release a new pedal called "the Rocketbottle" maybe this is wort waiting for
or at least looking into?
I've had a V-Twin rackmount which i didn't like very much for it's distorted sounds, but clean it was fantastic!

Pasi,

I had one of these about two years ago or so, and it is built like a tank. The two tubes are in a recessed cavity towards the back of the unit, and are covered up by a fairly sturdy metal cover which is kept in place with a couple of thumbscrews. One thing that might be of concern: the tube sockets are PCB-mounted, FWIW. The internal construction seems to be sturdy as well. It is no where as flimsy looking as the inside of one of Fender's new "Bic Lighter" disposable PCB amps.

I have one. Like Steve said its built like a tank. I have been gigging with it for about 2 years and have replaced the tubes but did it by choice not necessity. The pedal has never given me a bit of trouble. There is one thing that I don't like about it however, and thats the fact that when you go to the solo mode the gain is about 3 times your blues setting. There is no adjustment for this like the adjustment you make on the trim pot for clean to blues. I like a little boost with lead but the amount this thing boosts is almost unusable without turning down your guitar volume. It is better than the Ibanez Tube king IMHO but I am thinking of getting a fulltone 2 or a Klon Centaur.

Thanks for your experiences!

Wild innovation! Maybe I should think twice before purchasing it. Or at least try it with my gear.
