What's your favorite way to mount an LED???
So lets have it. How do you mount your LED's in those whiz bang stomp boxes you make in your basement??? Mouser lists some panel mounting accessories but I'm worried about the led being recessed in the enclosure and therefore hard to see.

What is out there? Links, pictures, opinions, facts?? Thanks

Easiset way around this is go to Radio Shack and get the metal LED holder they sell - can't remember the part number, but they're about 2 bucks each. Drill a hole in the top of the box and there's a nut and washer that secure the LED. It pokes out the top of the box by 1/4" but the LED's well protected and easy to see, plus you can mount your Millenium Bypass board to the back of the mount!

I think it's two bucks for a pack of TWO if I remember correctly

They also sell plastic clips that fit in a slightly larger hole and retain the LED. The are like a buck for 5. I use them all the time in stomp boxes, etc.

For a different look on die-cast Al boxes, if you have a counter sinking bit, you can drill a hole the size of the LED, countersink it from the top AFTER painting (watch it! don't chip the paint), so you have a cone shaped recess around the LED, all shiny metal. A little drop of laquer keeps the aluminium shiny longer (going for a year now, still fine). The LED is fixed from the rear with some hotmelt (great stuff, that).
This is probably not too gig-proof, but it works for me, and looks cool.

This is the same thing I use - except Mouser sells them for 0.13 each in ones, and $7.00 for a bag of 100. It's part number 351-0003.

Drill a 0.250" hole and pop the clip in from the outside. The LED fits in from the back and wedges the clip - and itself! - into the hole securely.

That's the one I'm after! Thanks so much to everyone!

Is anybody else amazed at what we have access to here? I mean, I ask a question and two days later BAM! There it is. It baffles, excites, and leaves me in awe at the power... And we all seem to use it pretty much in good faith. It's just amazing. Now has anybody seen the answer to world hunger anywhere? URL, Magazine article???? I'd like to figure that one out too...
