| Rich | 69 pedal Hey! I built one of those '69 pedals and its great! I played around with various germanium transistors until I got what I thought sounded good. I use it to front an overdriven tube amp and thats where it shines but it sounds crappy if its used with a clean amp. The key to this design is the bias control on the input. It lets you add or remove just enough muddy frequency. I was looking for some feedback from anyone else that built this guy . If so, what transistors did you use? |

I build the 69 too and it sounds great! I compared it to a re-issue Fuzz Face and blew it out of the water. The sound of this fuzz is great when using it in front of an overdriven tube amp. I used AC128 germanium transistors with a HFE of 96 and 137. They sounded the best to my ears. If you think this pedal sounds good on low volumes.....forget if....it needs lotsa power to sound really great. It's an easy to build, great sounding fuzz. If people are interested, email me and I'll send you a gif file (appr. 1x2") of the PCB. Happy hunting! Coen |

Yup these Sound Great if ya can get some good Transistors in them, I had the Problem that the Only Ones i could get Were AC126's and they just don't break up enough, This unit really needs to be in front of a tube amp, forget S/S it just sounds Bad, If Anyone Wants I can Make these PCB's and Quite Cheap too, professional and Everything, (Happens to be My Job at the Moment) Cheers |

Yeah, it's wild! I used AC128's, you can hear it on www.radmer.dk |

I don't wish to be a dick here , but I bought a "69" pedal, I did have a go at building various clones, they were okay, (better than a Dunlop Fuzz face), in a nutshell the transistors Fuller uses are the trick to this design, these transistors are NKT275, which are virtually impossible to get. To help you nail the tone of the "69" pedal, it should sound pretty wild (a beautiful Sound Garden sort of sound) into the front end of a clean Fender amp (volume set to 2-3 and amp with 12" speakers). The more you distort the amp the more of the amps qualities are in the distortion. Basically, I gave up on this one and bought the pedal, (which was expensive in Australia). I hope this helps. Mark. |

I actually Talked to Mike Fuller Regarding the transistor he Uses, here is what he had to Say. (Well it would be what he said if I could find that damn Email) Anyway the Idea of it was that he hand picked his transistors to get the Exact HFe's he Desired, |

| Bill Kahle | I just posted my latest version today over at alt.binaries.pictures.misc. It's titled "test" and it was posted at 10:28AM. Have a look at it if 'ya want. Thanks, Bill |
