Re: Anyone tryed Analog Mike's mods to these pedals? I just had Mike modify my TS9DX with the 808+brown mod. I actually A/B'd it with a real 808 the other day, and we couldn't hear any difference between the two. The workmanship on the mods was impeccable. I posted a pretty detailed review on Harmony Central. FWIW, I think it was pretty near the best $40 I've spent on a pedal. Kate Ebneter Collector of Noise Toys |

I bought a TS9 RI modded to TS 808 including the ”brown mod” from AM. Perfect job and AM was real nice “talking to”. I do not know if the opamp really was the JRC 4558 as stated… Best TS9 i’ve played on anyway (if you like that sound - I don’t use it anymore). Bjorn |

| Bill | I did the mods myself to a RI ts-9 and it really made a difference (to my ears at least). I highly suggest doing it. If you know how to solder, you'll have no problem (using a chip socket will help also, I used one and tried a few different chips to find the best one). It's definitely a good Do-It-Yourself project. |

Re: TS-9 to TS-808 mod...Speak out! I want your opinion! I too did this to a TS-5, but it was my first project. The magic is in the chip change. The resistor mod didn't do as much, kind of mellowed out the sound. I did the resistor mod second. I used a solder wick to remove the old IC, put in a socket, which I would HIGHLY recommend doing, and took a 4558 from a broken Boss EQ. Sounds great for a TS. But I only had $20 in my TS-5 so screwing it up wouldn't have bothered me, but everything went very smoothly for my first project. As Aron said, if you feel uncomfortable working on it pay someone, but if I can do it... Jay Doyle |

Re: TS10 to TS 808 I did the TS 808 mod to my TS10, it already had the "good" JRC4558D IC, it was subtle but I can hear a difference, seems smoother. I read a post from a guy who has all the TS models from TS808 - TS7, he says that he can't tell any difference bewteen his original TS9 and the RI TS9. Maybe they just vary from pedal to pedal somewhat, I have heard that the old ones did, so why not the new ones? |

I have a TS 808. I bought it new for $39. I never liked it much until I changed the chip. I used an LF353 bifet chip and it came to life. It would clean up when turning down the guitar, or picked softly (it didn't before) and it gained some sparkle, while retaining the smoothness. I was recently given a TS-5 and its almost indestinguishable. Honestly. |

TS-5 to TS-808 specs - anyone? has anyone tried converting a cheapo TS-5 to TS-808 specs? if so, how does it sound / compare? what did it entail? |
