Delay chip for Small Stone
Where can I get a replacement for the BBD chip in a Small Stone, J issue? I've heard you can make do with two different chips that when used together, function well. However, I'd rather just pop in an exact replacement.

The Small Stone doesn't use delay chips, it uses operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). The issue J uses the CA3094, which is an OTA and a darlington in a single 8 pin package. CA 3904's are not as common as they used to be, but I have a couple of hundred in my workbench stock.

You can replace the 3094 with a CA3080 and a discrete darlington like the MPS A13. You can also use the LM13600 or LM13700 from National. Neither of these will drop into the same PCB holes as the 3094.

Later issue Small Stones use the EH1048 chip which is a private numbered version of the CA3094.

I have ordered the CA3094 from MCM electronics. If memory serves, it was around $4.00 so you'll have to get at least seven of them, or order additional items to satisfy the $25.00 min. order.
However, *I* am interested in a source for the Reticon SAD 1024. I thought that RG was selling them at one time, but I can't find them on his site. Can anyone suggest a source for this part. What about the MN3007?

Thanks,

Bill

If you're in need of SAD1024's send me email. I can hand a one-time deal.

The MN3007 is relatively easy to find. NTE/ECG make a replacement (as well as one for the MN3101 clock driver). Digikey and Dalbani both sell the Matsushita version. Expect to pay about $4-6 US. I bought mine at Active Surplus in Toronto for $3 (Cdn) a pop.

Thanks guys!
I'll be shooting you a message, R.G.! Please let me know details concerning a purchase. I'd rather "drop-in" a Reticon over modding for the eight-pin Panasonic.

Does anyone remember what life was like without the 'net?
I remember waiting days and/ or weeks to even get documentation and schematics.

It's AMAZING at how fast it is to access information!

Thanks again,

Bill
