| Tom | Spencer, I assume you're looking for a two-channel (two-tone?) overdrive pedal and are comparing the stamps with the prescription dual-tone...both are decent sounding overdrives - at low levels they don't produce a tone that'll make you wet your pants, but used with an amp that's pushing some air, they both convincingly thicken your tone. I own a PE DT and the one complaint I have is that it produces TONS of low end. This effect is more pronounced at lower volumes, as it tends to just increase the amp's natural overdrive at higher levels. The stamps sounded a bit rounder on the top end to my ears, while the dual-tone tends to sizzle more. Also the extra boost switch is a nice touch, though I rarely use it. Lastly, I haven't tried the new stamps xl, but I hopes this gives you some info. Tom |
