i was wondering what mods anyone has done to their newer model dunlop crybaby to get any different tones or to improve upon the sound, any mods NOT recommended are welcome as well

By all means do the true by-pass.  
The switch goes for $8-10, & is well worth it.

First, read The" target="_blank">http://www.geofex.com">The Technology of Wah Pedals at GEO for what does what. That will allow you to make some choices about which parts to change. The later model wahs also add a buffer circuit in front of the wah circuit. It improves the sound and largely makes true bypass unnecessary if you change that buffer to a JFET source follower from the transistor emitter follower.
