Rick-O-Sound
Anyone know what's inside Rickenbacker's Rick-O-Sound kit box (to be used with stereo output Rickenbackers)? I imagined it was just a passive splitter box (one stereo cable in and two mono outputs) but Rickenbacker's website says that use of the stereo output with other equipment than the Rick-O-Sound kit (like Y-cords), could cause hum or treble loss.
Also, anyone tried stereo connection with two amps? Is it worth it?

Honestly don't know, when I owned a Ric, for a 1/10 of the cost of the Rick-O-Sound kit, I rewired the output jacks like a Gibson/Carvin where one output is swtiched. This way the main output is both PU's when it's the jack used, and when the second jack is used, it split one PU off. Allowed the use of regular mono cords throughout.

Hello!

This should have been in the Guitar Tech section, it might have gotten a quicker response.

Anyway, here is a page for you to take a peek at...
It lists the schematics for all Rickenbacker guitars and basses...

It might answer a few of your questions.

Since I don't know if the Rick-O-Sound kit is an effect or not, I chose to post here in the Effects forum.

Thanks for the link, I've already checked it out. What I'm looking for is the schematic for the additional box (a.k.a. Rick-O-Sound Kit) as seen on pic on:

Well, it can't be a buffer splitter without a power source and I don't remember seeing a battery compartment on the ric-o-sound box when I saw one in person. My guess is that it's all hype and a quality Y-cord will work.

Maybe there's a transformer in there - that's what they are saying removes hum?

I dunno.
