Improving bass responds and remove hiss

I finaly got a piece of the schematic. I changed the C6 to a higher value to get less hiss in the distortion. I also tried to change the C10, but with less succes.
Anyone any idea how to improve the bass respond and to get ritt of the hiss?

Gus	looks like a more full range version of the rat with a BMP type tone section. Things to try, change opamp What is the opamp now. revoice the tone section use the sim at Duncans web site you can find the web site at the resource list at this site.

R.G.	...hmmmm... the opamp looks like a CA3080 from the pinout and connections. Wonder if it's an OTA?

Gus	I checked the sk cross it crosses to a sk9074 a 9 pin sip recording/playback preamp. Looks like no easy replacement Could not find it in a book maybe try Toshiba (TA is sometimes Toshiba).

R.G.	Yep, you're right. I saw the bias connection to the chip and made a leap of faith - into the fire 8-O The actual part looks unique, but I suspect that you could get much the same operation from a stock opamp with a little work.

Re: Boss Ds-1 mod to the older version.

I have had probably 5-6 DS1's, some were MIJ, others Taiwan,
maybe it's just me, but I don't really hear any difference.
In fact, I got a MIJDS1 to check out, after hearing that they are supposed to be "smoother", I prefered my newer Taiwan made DS1.
There could be variations in all of them like a lot of other gear.
And I guess it depends a LOT on what the rest of your gear is, I use mostly Strats with vintage style pu's into Fender or a Rivera amp. My Taiwan DS1 sounded GREAT through a Boogie MKIIB too!
I like the DS1, that and my TS10 modded to TS808, great combination!
Just MHO, YMMV.
