Here are my picks:

Boss DC-2 "Digital Dimension": These pedals sound amazing. I have owned quite a few chorus pedals and this one wins!

Ibanez SD-9 "Sonic Distortion": The best crunchy sounding distortion pedal I have heard. These things are climbing in price so grab one while you can.

Boss CS-2 "Copression/Sustainer" The best for the buck. Much better sounding than the CS-3.

My votes go to:

1. BOSS OD-2 Turbo Overdrive. One of the best BOSS distorsion/overdrives IMHO.

2. Ibanez CM-5 Classic Metal (Soundtank). Really not that much heavy metal actually. This is the only soundtank pedal I've tried but some of them are supposed to be quite good. I hate the plastic appearance though.

Dunlop 2.0 mm pick (the purple one) - it doesn't bend at all. Amazing improvement in note definition, power of guitar output signal. Try one, you'll see.

That's actually the pick I use too (I play the bass). My only problem is they get a bit slippery when I start to sweat so I cut grooves into them with a knife and/or rub them against a concrete floor.
I find them a little to heavy for the guitar.

Hey, I thought I was the only guitar player that used those things! Err, used to use. Actually, I used them for a couple of years. At the time, they were definitely part of the sound. Cool stuff!

Can't believe no one has mentioned Vox Valvetone!
Having tried most of the boutique pedals out
there I am happy to go back to my Vox valvetone V-810
Is it because it does'nt have a snobishly high
price?

Boss DS-1 is a must have pedal, especially at the $39 or $49 they go for new discounted.

For me, Fulltone '69 pedal is also a great fuzz/overdrive.

1/3 rack space Alesis Microverb is the simplest mono reverb/overdrive I've found.

The DanEcho is also great and gives 95% of an echoplex in a small pedal.
