Re: Chorus , what's your favorite pedal and why?
Some time before the end of this century, I am hoping to finish up a "technology of..." paper to send to RG Keen to post on the GEOFEX website that will outline much of what gives BBD-based effects (chorus, flanger, echo, etc.) their particular flavour, and also outlines a number of tricks to change the flavour. One of the things that will run through that paper is the universals in design of these devices and how you can turn one thing into something pretty close to another thing, or how you can turn it into something not commercially available but lovable nonetheless.

You may want to pick up one of those $19 ROGUE chorus units that Musician's Friend has on sale currently to have something cheap to futz around with and try out mods on something whose resale value you don't care about. Just a thought. Not an endorsement.

As an aside to RG, I'm almost done.

Of the ones I've tried, I really like my Rockman Chorus. Very lush, especially if you can run it in stereo. Kind of a hastle because it is a half rackmount unit, but it is my favorite. I have an older Digitech rackmount delay unit, but I don't like any of the chorus/flange sounds on it, too sterile. I use it only for delay.

I really enjoy my Boss DC-2 pedal. I have owned or fooled w/ quite a few including all other Boss chorus pedals except the CE-1. The DC-2 has 4 settings and all 4 sound fantastic! This pedal gives me the chime and definition on my clean channel that I love.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the response,
I had the Boss DC2 which I liked a lot, but live it seemed to be kind of hard to tell the difference between some of the presets.
The Arion is pretty cool too, especially for the $$, if the info gets posted about mods I think it would be a great starting platform!
I've tried the Boss CE2, CE3, Superchorus,
Ibanez CS9 ( which I personally did NOT like!)
Ibanez SC10, I liked it a LOT!
I liked the 2 switchable sounds of the RFX Twin Spin , but it was built cheap! kind of worried about reliability.
Like everything else, they all seem to have good and bad points.
I've heard that the H&K Rotosphere is a Great sounding unit, but it is about $250 or better.
Oh well the quest continues........

To add one a little off the subject is the Ibanez Session Man. Its a cool pedal, dist and chorus in the same pedal with a switch to run them parrallel or series. The chorus is a little light but overall this is a great pedal. If you can find one cheap it is worth it.

The Ibanez CS-9 is my favorite. It has a lush sounding chorus without being too overwhelming, and it doesn't thin out your sound and add grainyness like all the Boss pedals do.
