Sherman Filterbank?
Anyone have experience with these crazy looking things? Would it be too far out of the scope of DIY'ers? Anything that would be comparable at a price lower than $800?

Somebody recently posted a URL for a DIY place in England called Oakley Sound Systems. (www.techrepairs.freeserve.co.uk). They have some very ambitious filter projects, and what looks to be unambitious prices (although UK pence tend to throw me off in my estimates). PAiA also make some nice VCF's, and you can probably throw half a dozen of these in a rack with a MIDI-to-CV module (all in project form) for what a Sherman would cost you. The Sherman DOES look very tasty, though. Perhaps its tastiness is enough to let others let go of their Peavey filter banks for reasonable prices.

Mark, This looks really good! I checked it out and plan on ordering their filter PCB deal. I just need morte info on shipping to the US. I am waiting for a reply from 'em to find out these details.

WOW! this guy responds quickly! The board is 22 GBP ($35 USD) that includes S/H... He says it typically takes 10 days for it to ship. $35 doesn't sound bad for a board I'd hate to route myself! I can't veiw the PDF here at work (damned UNIX terminals) so I am gonna have to wait until I get home to look at the schematic. Thanks for pointing me in this direction, Mark!

I've seen the board for the Oakley TB-303 clone, and it is very high quality, well up to commercial standards. I
expect their filter wd be just as good. And, the creator (Tony Allgood)is on the synth-diy maillist & definitely knows his stuff.
