Arrow vs. Carlings DPDT's? Which makes the better stomp switch? It would appear that arrow was the poorer quality due to the lower price. Is this true? nic |

| Mark Hammer | The Arrow switches are fine. If you wear steel toed combat boots, weigh 400 pounds (with most of it concentrated in your calves and feet like Alley Oop), play 3 gigs nightly (mostly drunk), and treat your stompboxes like Morse code keys, you may want to invest in the Carling. If I was a manufacturer, had no idea about any specific customer's needs and practices, and wanted to be sure I never had to service a switch, I 'spose I'd spring for the Carling and pass on the cost to the customer. If you are making it for yourself, you already know what your needs are, and you probably aren't gigging that often (or else you wouldn't have the time to make a box). You are probably also quite capable of springing $4 more for another one when the first one goes belly up, and replacing it two years from now. Now, about that foot weight problem, and your alchohol consumption.... |
