YAMAHA Rev 7 Hi Anyone heard or seen this ? It's at RACK effect, midi controllable, 99 patches avaiable, stereo. Primarily reverb/echo settings, but has some chorus-flanger-phasing and tremolo settings. Any opinions on this,- how old might it be ? Preben |

The Rev 7 was a late 80's high-end reverb. It sounded a bit better than the SPX 90 (which a lot of people swear by, but I personally don't like). The Rev 7 sounded quite good as I recall. But remember, this is older technology. For $200 nowadays, you can get something that smokes it. Roger |

I had one for a while in the late 80's. They listed for $1500 when they came out. I remember the reverb was a little strange. When using it the reverb never "blended" with the source but always sounded very seperate. Hard to describe. I ended up using it on an Alesis electronic drum setup. It worked well. It was replaced after a few months with an Alesis Microverb II, which sounded better. |

Hi! Thanks for the reply's so far. The owner of the REV7 has offered me to buy it. He claims 1500 D.Kr for it !!! I think that is too much. I have testet the unit and came to the following results: It has some nice reverb/echo sounds indeed, but when the effect is engaged there is a constant uncontrollable hiss in the background. There are many parameters to adjust for each individual sound/patch, but i found it is difficult to get a decent chorus / flanger /phaser sound out of the box. (The flanger sounds like little reverb with a white-noise, sweeping up and down, mixed in). I have looked inside the box. In the audio section af the unit yhe op-amps were: JRC 5532, and JRC 4559. Date codes on the chips stated around 1985 - 1987. Preben. |
